About me…

Hmm… what to say about me?

There really isn’t that much that’s worth rambling on about so I’m going to keep this short and sweet!

I’ve loved photography for as long as I can remember.  Ever since I got my DSLR I’ve been driving my family nuts at gatherings and special occasions, constantly clicking away!  The children love to pose, though I prefer to capture them when they’re unaware!

I love being out in the fresh air and am happiest when surrounded by nature, with my camera in my hands and preferably the sun shining!  That’s when I feel most peaceful… that’s when I slow down and breathe and just live in and for the moment.  I’m usually accompanied by Tala (‘Mutley’), who I also love to photograph, she’s so pretty and loves the attention! 🙂

I am not, by any stretch of the imagination, a professional (hence the name of my blog) but am striving to become a much better amateur!  I would have loved to have been a travel and wildlife photographer, especially if it involved working among wild dolphins… never say never! 😉

I started this blog mainly as a creative outlet but also as a platform for sharing my photographs.   I don’t really have a niche… I love landscapes, macro, portraits, street scenes, animals, the sea… pretty much whatever takes my fancy!

If anyone enjoys my photographs half as much as I enjoy taking them, then that makes me very happy and as Mutley features regularly, I think she would be pretty chuffed too…

... Mutley, smiling for the camera!

… Mutley, smiling for the camera!

All photographs are my own and I would ask that they are not used for any purpose without my prior permission.  If you should choose to use the sharing buttons, please be sure to link back to this blog.  Many thanks!

Thank you so much! Mutley is indeed a beautiful girl…though by the time we get back from the swampy, muddy woods later this morning she won’t look so pretty, more like she’s wearing black welly boots! 😀

Quotes that speak to my soul…

"Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving.
What you have caught on film is captured forever...
it remembers little things,
long after you have forgotten everything." - Aaron Siskind

"You become things, you become an atmosphere, and if you become it, which means you incorporate it within you, you can also give it back. You can put this feeling into a picture. A painter can do it. And a musician can do it and I think a photographer can do that too and that I would call the dreaming with open eyes." - Ernst Haas

"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by Dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most importantly, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."
- Steve Jobs

“To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy.”
- Henri Cartier-Bresson

“For me, the camera is a sketch book, an instrument of intuition and spontaneity.”
― Henri Cartier-Bresson

“Above all, life for a photographer cannot be a matter of indifference”
― Robert Frank
