Weekly Photo Challenge: Eerie

Not in black and white but I think they’re definitely eerie so I reckon they fit this weeks photo challenge

These were taken at a local cemetery a few years ago… apparently the webs were created by a little caterpillar called ermine yponomeuta moths, which are common in Britain. It was a pretty amazing sight!

Weekly Photo Challenge: The Golden Hour

This weeks photo challenge is the golden hour… that time of day when the sun is rising to herald new possibilities, when the air is fresh and the world is quiet… when you can breathe deeply, ready for whatever challenges or adventures come your way… or when the sun is setting, the air is warm but there’s a lovely welcome, gentle breeze and you close your eyes and exhale… reflecting on the day as it closes its sleepy eyes.

The Serpentine… Hyde Park, London

Just a few photos taken at The Serpentine in Hyde Park a few weeks ago…

Try something different…!

Three lovely ducks chillin’ on the banks of a river… wanting to do something different but not quite knowing what… the conversation (Jungle Book, Vulture style) goes something like this…

1st Duck…

So, what do you wanna do?

So, what do you wanna do?

2nd Duck, looking at 3rd Duck…

... I dunno, what do you wanna do?

… I dunno, what do you wanna do?

3rd Duck…

... I dunno, what do you wanna do? ........... 1st duck... sighing... shall we go for a swim then?

Mutleys’ pic(s) of the day!

Tala (Mutley) quite likes all this blogging lark and has decided she would like a sideline to my blog… ‘Mutleys’ pic of the day!’  So that she can showcase all her wonderfulness!

Hmm this tastes good...

... doesn't smell too good though!

Can't you put that camera down for two seconds...? The stick's not going to throw itself!!!

Can’t you put that camera down for two seconds…? The stick’s not going to throw itself!!!  Humph…!

There’s a buzz in the air…!

Every year when I see the first Bee of Spring I get really excited… Summer’s on the way!  After, what seems like the longest Winter ever, I was more happy than ever to see this wonderful busy Bee collecting pollen from the blossom…

I heard the buzz before I saw the bee...!

I heard the buzz before I saw the bee…

I hear it before I saw it...

Bumbling about his busy afternoon…

Such delicate wings...

perfect delicate wings…

My first bee of Spring... wonderful!

Slow down… and breathe…

Most of my days are spent rushing from one thing to another, always so much to do and not enough time to do it!  Except when I’m out walking Mutley…

There’s a certain point I get to in the local wood where the sun streams through the trees and the only sounds are those of the birds going about their business (and Mutley panting as she charges about chasing squirrels) that I tilt my head to the sky, slow down… and breathe…

Magical Dartmoor, Devon

The sun peeping through the clouds is one of those moments that makes you breathe deeply and smile…

Quotes that speak to my soul…

"Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving.
What you have caught on film is captured forever...
it remembers little things,
long after you have forgotten everything." - Aaron Siskind

"You become things, you become an atmosphere, and if you become it, which means you incorporate it within you, you can also give it back. You can put this feeling into a picture. A painter can do it. And a musician can do it and I think a photographer can do that too and that I would call the dreaming with open eyes." - Ernst Haas

"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by Dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most importantly, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."
- Steve Jobs

“To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy.”
- Henri Cartier-Bresson

“For me, the camera is a sketch book, an instrument of intuition and spontaneity.”
― Henri Cartier-Bresson

“Above all, life for a photographer cannot be a matter of indifference”
― Robert Frank
